McCready Health Announces PEARLS Award Winner for January 2017
Kristen Ward, BS MLS (ASCP) CM, McCready Health’s Laboratory, Respiratory and Cardiac Rehab Manager, has been named the McCready PEARL of the Month for January 2017.
A McCready employee since 2008, Kristen initially worked “PRN” or “as needed” in the Lab until 2012, when she came on board full-time to accept the Manager position.
“I like the feel of a small hospital, where everyone knows each other,” she said. “There is a great camaraderie among the departments.”
Kristen received her bachelor’s degree in science from Salisbury University. A Medical Lab Scientist (MLS), she is also certified through the American Society of Clinical Pathologists. In addition to her daily responsibilities, Kristen is a member of the Quality Assurance Committee, the Safety Committee, the Leadership Team, the IT Steering Committee and Patient Care Services. She is also quick to volunteer for McCready-sponsored events such as health fairs and Christmas parades, and is an active donor and ambassador for blood drives and fundraising events at the hospital. Within the community, Kristen has served as the President of the Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion Post #16 for three years. Originally from Pocomoke, she resides in Crisfield with Greg, her husband of three years.
“PEARLS” is an acronym for “Promoting Excellence And Recognizing Legendary Service.” Patients, residents and family members as well as McCready employees and volunteers are welcome to nominate a deserving associate by completing a PEARLS card. PEARLS cards and comment drop-boxes are located throughout the campus to collect all nominations.
As McCready Health’s latest recipient, Kristen received a framed certificate and a gift certificate. Her name was also added to the engraved plaque in the hospital honoring all monthly PEARLS.
