McCready Health Begins Construction on New Behavior Health Unit
Upgrades and renovations underway in other areas of the facility.
Crisfield, MD – McCready Health, the leading health care provider in Somerset County, today announced it has begun renovating parts of its Outpatient Services and Administration buildings in order to expand its Behavioral Health unit.
“This is a vital step for McCready Health and the community,” said Kathleen Harrison, CEO of McCready Health. “Since establishing the Behavioral Health unit, requests for our services have grown consistently. This project will assure that we can accommodate patients respectfully and confidentially as they work to rebuild their lives.”
The new facility will more than double both the current capacity and square footage of the unit’s existing space. It will include a large group meeting room, a smaller group meeting room, a total of six counseling rooms, a private waiting and intake area, and offices for staff. Flooring, paint, countertops, cabinets and other cosmetic finishes will be installed. Project completion is anticipated this summer.
Established in early 2017, McCready Health’s outpatient Behavioral Health unit addresses alcohol and substance addictions. Headed by Tiffany Travers, LCSW-C, the program offers services to individuals and their families to support their journey toward recovery.
There are separate programs for adolescents ages 12 – 18 years old and for adults. Each provides assessments, individual and group therapy, family counseling and education, case management, crisis interventions and individual education services. Group meetings are held throughout the week with convenient evening hours to promote compliance and a healthy balance for work/family. A Narcotics Anonymous Support Group meets weekly as well.
Renovations Extend into the Hospital and Administration
As part of the renovations efforts, the front lobby of Outpatient Services will undergo a refurbishment, with the installation of an accessible and energy-efficient vestibule with sliding glass front doors, and new entrance ramp. Bathrooms will be completely redesigned, making the entire area ADA compliant.
The entrance to Administration Services will receive new flooring, fresh paint and an overall cosmetic upgrade. Both areas are partially located in the building that originally served as the hospital, which opened in 1923.
Keith Iott of Iott Architecture has designed the project and Gillis Gilkerson is serving as the general contractor. Both are based in Salisbury, Md.
