McCready Health Offering Drive-Through Flu Clinic
McCready Health will hold its annual drive-through flu clinic on Saturday, October 14 from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in front of the hospital’s administration building on the concrete circular driveway at 201 Hall Highway in Crisfield. The flu clinic is open to anyone over the age of 18 and will be held rain or shine. Cost is $5.00 (cash or check) or free with proof of Medicare. To make the process quick and easy, the public is asked to wear a short sleeve shirt and remain in the vehicle; McCready staff members will come directly to them to administer the vaccine.
The flu shot vaccine protects against both the seasonal and H1N1 flu viruses.
“Getting vaccinated is the single best way for people to protect not only themselves against the flu, but their loved ones as well,” said McCready Health Director of Quality Laura Chambers, RN.
Vaccination is especially important for people at high risk of serious flu-related complications, including young children, people 65 and older, pregnant women and people with certain chronic medical conditions such as asthma, diabetes and heart disease. In addition to getting the vaccination, you can help prevent catching the flu by practicing these health tips:
- Wash your hands frequently
- Cover your mouth and nose when you sneeze or use your sleeve
- Avoid those who are sick, if possible
- If you are sick, stay home until you are fever-free for at least 24 hours
