The Pulmonary Department focuses on bettering the breathing of our patients. One of the most often requested services by our doctors is a Pulmonary Function Test (PFT), which gauges how well a patient moves air in and out of their lungs, and how well oxygen is utilized by the body. It is a simple, painless procedure that measures lung-volume capacities, air-flow rate and gas exchange.
A PFT compares a patient’s ability to breathe with national standards. The test provides information to help diagnose lung disorders, including asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), bronchitis, emphysema and sarcoidosis, among others.
Please call in advance of your appointment if you need assistance and a staff member will meet you at the entrance. For questions about Pulmonary testing and therapy, call 410-968-3001, ext. 3257. To pre-register for a Pulmonary Function Test call 410-968-3250 or – 3364.
